ABSTRACT

The intercultural competence of students in the context of the value approach helps to harmonize the psychological climate in the ingtergroup throughout the entire period of study, which helps to improve the academic performance of students and prevents interethnic conflicts both in online and digital forms. Modern education in higher educational institutions, the leadership of which was forced to largely revise the principles of interaction between students and teachers due to the introduced self-isolation regime and lockdown measures during the Covid-19 pandemic around the world, today includes contact and distant forms of communication, implemented through online and offline formats. At the same time, an increase in the number of situations in which it is necessary to interact in writing and orally is due to the introduction of social networks and instant messengers into the educational process, in which intercultural competence allows expressing one's thoughts more correctly and better understanding the foreign recipient. Tasks: (1) identify the main predictors of misunderstanding that may arise in the process of intercultural communication;(2) identify the factors contributing to the establishment of intercultural communication;(3) analyze the specifics of intercultural communication in digital and offline formats. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The research was carried out on on the basis of Tyumen Industrial University. The data collection procedure included a questionnaire containing 13 questions, of which 11 were closed-ended, with suggested options, and 2 were open. Based on the data obtained, the difficulties encountered by teachers were identified, which prevent introducing modern technologies in the learning process. ABSTRACT

Washing hands is one of the most important ways to prevent infectious diseases, including COVID-19. The World Health Organization (WHO) has published hand-washing guidelines. This paper presents a large real-world dataset with videos recording medical staff washing their hands as part of their normal job duties in the Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital. There are 3185 hand-washing episodes in total, each of which is annotated by up to seven different persons. The annotations classify the washing movements according to the WHO guidelines by marking each frame in each video with a certain movement code. The intention of this “in-the-wild” dataset is two-fold: to serve as a basis for training machine-learning classifiers for automated hand-washing movement recognition and quality control, and to allow to investigation of the real-world quality of washing performed by working medical staff. We demonstrate how the data can be used to train a machine-learning classifier that achieves classification accuracy of 0.7511 on a test dataset. © 2021 by the authors.
